Apple has planned a media event on March 2, to announce the upcoming iPad 2. 9to5Mac report that global retailers are no longer able to order the original iPad. This is characteristic for Apple and would indicate the iPad 2 should be shipping not too long after the announcement is made. With all the tablet launches lately, we still have not really witnessed a tablet that could replace the iPad, yet. In the Apple earnings call last quarter, Steve Jobs made reference to many tablets that are all still vaporware until Honeycomb is actually released, and reminded those on the call that Apple always has a working sample whenever they launch a new product. This should be standard today. With so many promises, many of the products do not actually make it to market. We have no sources to indicate an early iPad 2 launch, but it would not surprise us one bit, if Apple were to have the iPad 2 ready for the month of March, to set the bar for their competitors. Stay tuned for the March 2 event.
